GNTC (9-6) pounced on the Lady Scots early and often, winning 25-13, 25-19, 25-13.
This is one of several matches that the Lady Bobcats have scheduled with the junior varsity squads of area four-year schools.
Former East Ridge standout Cambrie Gustafson left her mark on Friday with 14 kills, five aces, and a pair of blocks.
“She is one of many big hitters we have this year,” GNTC coach Tricia Goodwin said of the 5-foot-8 outside hitter. “Cambrie has really helped lead the way. They played well to a home crowd that deserved to see a great match.”
Sabrina Garcia (LaFayette) pounded down 11 kills on the night, while Carrie Powell (Ridgeland) added nine. Leah Swanson (Ringgold) dished out 15 assists, Brittney Goforth (Ridgeland) added 14 of her own, and Cayce Gearrin (GPS) led the back row with nine digs.
The Lady Bobcats will be in action again on Thursday in Carrollton against West Georgia Tech. GNTC’s next home match will be on Oct. 16 at the R.A.C.
The Lady Bobcats will play at a club tournament at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville on Oct. 2. Among the big-name schools that GNTC will face are Southern Illinois, Western Kentucky, and host Tennessee.
