According to Len Gregor, assistant district attorney for the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit, Steve Lynn Adkins, 42, was sentenced Sept. 26 by Catoosa County Superior Court Judge Ralph Van Pelt to 20 years in prison and 40 years probation on 31 counts, including 16 counts of child molestation, three counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes and 12 counts of sexual exploitation of children.
Adkins lives at 432 McDonald Drive in Catoosa County.
Gregor said Adkins, who will be eligible for parole in 18 years, pled guilty in exchange for the dismissal of three separate charges, including one count of aggravated sodomy, which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison.
He said careful consideration went into the plea bargain, and overall his office is satisfied with the sentence.
“We discussed it with the victims and their families before we offered the plea bargain,” he said. “His probation will be a lot more specific than the average sex offender’s probation.”
Gregor said Adkins, who molested three girls under the age of 16 and possessed thou-sands of pieces of child pornography, must register as a sex offender, can never own a computer, will not be allowed to drive alone and cannot have unsupervised contact with children
