A Dalton man and his 6-year-old daughter were killed Sunday afternoon in a one-vehicle wreck on I-75 near Resaca, a Georgia State Patrol operator said Tuesday.

Chad William Hurd, 26, of 1803 Shadow Lane, and Audrey Rosine Copeland Hurd were killed instantly when a 1998 Saturn driven by Chad Hurd struck a guard rail, said Gordon County coroner James Carver. Whitfield County coroner Bobbie Dixon said the family had just moved to Dalton from Adairsville.

Chad Hurd had a deep passion for “music, football and the Gospel,” said an obituary from R. Dudley Barton and Son Funeral Home in Adairsville. The obituary for Audrey Hurd said she was in the first grade at City Park Elementary and loved music and dancing.

The accident is still under investigation, the operator said. The time of the wreck was approximately 3:30 p.m.

The vehicle was not driven by Chad, the vehicle was driven by Chad's wife. She survived the wereck with a few injuries. I was there when the wreck happened. I was a first responder. I know this article is old but, it drives me crazy to know that people are faulting Chad for this accident.
