The popular Cruise-In that brought waves of motor enthusiasts and spectators to the streets of Fort Oglethorpe last year is back for 2013 at a new location, Gateway Business Center and Mall on Cloud Springs Road. This year, the Cruise-In is Sat., March 16 from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Thousands in the past have attended the Cruise-In held on LaFayette Road on the third Saturday of each month, March through October. Kathleen Davies, manager of Gateway Business Center is working with experienced volunteers to make the transition from downtown Fort Oglethorpe to Gateway a win-win for everyone.

“We are very excited to host the Cruise-In and welcome the exhibitors and spectators here,” she said. “There is no charge to show off your ride and swap meet vendors can set up for just $10.”

The family friendly event features concessions, live music, kid’s activities and door prizes. Proceeds from the 50/50 raffle helps a different charity each month. The Center For HOPE, known to many for their Christian counseling services and food pantry has been selected as the March 16 beneficiary. Denny Whitesel, executive director of The Center For HOPE explained the need for their services.

“The past five years have been rough on everyone,” he said. “The Center for HOPE offers much needed counseling for the entire family. Folks walk through our door who need counseling, food, clothes and referral for other services and find the help they desperately need under our roof.”
