Fatherhood will be at the forefront when Robert Amaya joins the congregation of Crosspointe Church in Ringgold for two services Oct. 28 at 9 and 11 a.m. He is most recently known for his role as “Javier” in the Sherwood Film “Courageous.”

“The future of our children and grandchildren are at stake, and it is time we encourage fathers to take back their roles as dads,” said pastor Ron Tankersley, Crosspointe Church. “We see this ‘Courageous Weekend’ as a way to bring an awakening to the family.”

According to courageousthemovie.com’s website, fatherless homes produce 85 percent of all youth in prisons, 90 percent of all homeless and runaway children and 63 percent of youth suicides. Amaya’s message to fathers all over the country is to embrace the importance of their roles through “a Biblical perspective of our Heavenly Father.”

Amaya is a bilingual professional actor/singer in Miami, Fla., with a background in theater. He volunteers as a worship leader and children’s ministry actor at his church, Miami’s University Baptist Church. He helped launch and organize “FamJamz,” a family ministry based on the “Think Orange” concept where families are encouraged to worship together.
