A Rossville man was arrested on a stalking charge after police say he allegedly drove past the victim’s residence again while she was filing the complaint with officers.

According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department:

John Anthony Perry, 30, of McDonald Drive in Rossville was arrested Tuesday afternoon, April 10, on a stalking charge, after the alleged victim informed police of several instances over a four-day period, in which she claims Perry would drive by her house and even follow her places.

Perry has been released from jail on bond.

Police fielded the complaint shortly after noon on April 10, at which time Perry drove by the alleged victim for the second time in a matter of minutes, reports show.

“Upon my arrival, I met with the victim who began to tell me that Mr. Perry had been stalking her,” officer Joel Walker wrote in the report. “She stated that he had been driving back and forth on her street and had recently passed. As she described the red Chevrolet Blazer he was driving, she stopped and advised me that he was driving by at that very time.”

Officers motioned for Perry to stop, which he ignored, at which time officer Walker got in his patrol car and stopped Perry further down the street, reports show.

“I asked why he was driving by and he stated that the road was his route back to work,” Walker said. “I asked if he had driven by earlier in the day, and he stated that he hadn’t.”

The alleged victim claims that the incidents began on Friday, April 6, with several occurrences taking place over the course of the weekend before she decided to report the incident on April 10, reports show.

She told police that Perry was texting and calling her constantly and that she was trying to avoid him.

She also stated that she and her cousin left her house on April 9, at which time Perry began following them around town.

Several neighbors and eyewitnesses corroborated the victim’s story, reports show.

One witness told police that she had seen Perry drive by the residence “several times” over the four-day span, while another witness stated that he had seen Perry drive by as many as ten times on April 6.

Perry insisted that he had only been by the victim’s residence one time over the previous four days while travel-ing to work.

“He first stated that he had not seen the victim over the weekend,” Walker said. “He then changed his story and said that he did see her over the weekend and that she stole $50 from him.”

Perry was transported to Catoosa County jail without further incident.
