Adairsville man killed in accident

Barry Freeman, 23, Adairsville, was killed in a wreck on Georgia Highway 20 just inside Cherokee County, Georgia Friday afternoon around 3:15 p.m.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Department, Freeman was a back seat passenger in a Saturn which was east bound and apparently attempted to make a U-turn. A tractor trailer, which was also east bound, struck the vehicle pushing it all the way off the road.

Freeman was pronounced dead on the scene while two other people in the automobile, the driver and another passenger sustained serious injuries and were transported to hospitals in the metro Atlanta area.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.

The Cherokee Sheriff's Dep[artment accident reconstruction team is leading the investigation.
