The Wolverines scored two touchdowns in the first quarter to take an early lead, but it would be the only points the Trojans' defense would allow for the rest of regulation.
Braxton Salmon got Gordon Lee on the board in the fourth quarter, first on an 85-yard fumble return for a touchdown and later on a five-yard TD run to tie the game with 26 seconds to play.
Caleb O’Neal then helped send the game to overtime with a touchdown-saving tackle in the closing seconds.
In the first overtime, O'Neal found Salmon in the end zone for a touchdown pass to force a second overtime and Andrew Towns scored the go-ahead touchdown in that second overtime period before adding the two-point conversion.
Then on Dade's possession, Towns stripped the ball loose and recovered the fumble to give Gordon Lee the victory.
The Trojans will play at Trion (1-1) next Thursday.
The Gordon Lee Middle School softball team also used some late-game heroics to defeat LaFayette, 1-0, in eight innings on Thursday.
Kennedy Harris had the big hit in the eighth, driving in Avrie Weldon with the game-winner. Karsan Gazaway went 3-for-4 with a double in the win while Emily Armour had another big game in the circle with 17 strikeouts.
The Lady Trojans (8-1 overall, 2-0 NGAC) will face an important week starting on Tuesday with a game at Ringgold. They will host Chattanooga Valley on Thursday and play at Rossville on Friday.
All three are conference games and will begin at 5 p.m.
Gordon Lee is scheduled to travel to LaFayette on Saturday, Sept. 17 for a rematch.
The game will not count in the NGAC standings.
