A elderly woman’s purse was snatched while she sat in her car in the parking lot Wednesday, July 27, at the Food Lion in Fort Oglethorpe.

According to Fort Oglethorpe police reports:

At about 3 p.m. officers were sent to the Food Lion at 1800 LaFayette Road.

The woman told police she was sitting in her vehicle waiting for her husband who had gone into the store when a silver SUV pulled up with two white females inside.

The woman said the passenger got out and motioned for the driver to drive around. She asked the woman for a couple dollars for gas and the woman told her she had no money. The female reached into the vehicle, grabbed the purse from under her left arm and ran.

When police arrived, the victim had marks from the scuffle on top of her right arm.

The woman said the vehicle headed east on Cloud Springs Road.

The victim’s checkbook, credit cards, and cell phone were in the purse.

Contact with the victim’s credit card companies showed that one of her cards was used at a business on Cloud Springs Road less than 10 minutes after it was stolen. Use of another card were attempted at three separate loca-tions later in the afternoon.

Video surveillance showed that when the card was used at the Walgreen’s on Rossville Boulevard at 48th Street in Chattanooga, Tenn., a black male was with the two while females, and that the trio appeared to be driving a silver Isuzu Rodeo.

Anyone with information regarding the theft or the suspects is asked to contact the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department at 706-866-2512.
