The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga football team gained some preseason recognition with the release of the Phil Steele 2011 FCS Top 40, All-American and All-Southern Conference teams.

UTC is picked No. 19 in the country while senior receiver Joel Bradford earned Second Team All-American honors, while four additional Mocs were on the All-SoCon preseason squad.

The Mocs are coming off a 6-5 season and a third place finish in the SoCon at 5-3. Under third-year head coach Russ Huesman, UTC has put together back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 1990 and 1991. The Mocs also scored their most wins in league play since 1985.

Chattanooga returns 16 starters, including eight on defense, five on offense and three specialists. Bradford was a Third Team AP All-American in 2010 when he was second in the nation with a UTC-record 1,284 receiving yards. He twice broke the Mocs' school mark for receiving yards in a game with 254 against Eastern Kentucky and 274 at Furman.

Bradford was picked on Steele's All-SoCon First Team. He was joined on offense by senior quarterback B.J. Coleman. Coleman is one of 11 quarterbacks on the 2011 Walter Payton Award Watch list and is on Steele's All-SoCon Second Team.

Three Mocs were named on defense, including first-teamers senior linebacker Ryan Consiglio and sophomore defensive back Kadeem Wise. Consiglio led the team with 110 tackles in 2010. Wise was the SoCon Freshman of the Year last season, setting a UTC freshman record with six interceptions. Junior defensive end Joshua Williams grabbed a spot on the third team.

The Mocs are set to kick off the 2011 season on Sept. 3 at Nebraska. Chattanooga opens its home slate against Jacksonville State on Sept. 10. The Gamecocks are picked 11th in Steele's top-40. Georgia Southern (3), Appalachian State (5) and Wofford (9) are other Mocs opponents who are ranked in the preseason top-40.
