Enrollment at Georgia Northwestern Technical College (GNTC) continues to rise as the college enters fall quarter. Preliminary numbers show the college enrolled a record-breaking 6,702 for fall 2010. This is an increase of 733 students, or 12.3 percent, over fall 2009 enrollment of 5,969.

“Our fall quarter increase is likely due to the continued sluggish economy in northwest Georgia,” said GNTC president Craig McDaniel. “We are also seeing an increase in the number of young people who are making technical college their first choice after graduating high school.”

Georgia Northwestern Technical College has 2,597 students enrolled at the Floyd County campus, 903 at the Gordon County campus, 308 at the Polk County campus, and 2,894 at the Walker County campus.

GNTC has 3,544 students enrolled full time and 3,158 enrolled part time at the college.

The number of GNTC students enrolled in online classes continues to soar as well. With approximately 300 instructor-facilitated online classes being offered, GNTC has 2,858 students enrolled in at least one online class this quarter.

Georgia Northwestern Technical College serves Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, Floyd, Gordon, Polk and Walker counties in Georgia with campuses located in Floyd, Gordon, Polk and Walker counties.

Approximately 23,383 people currently benefit from GNTC’s credit and noncredit programs.
