The nature of the job means police work tends to attract the one type of personality least suited to handle that line of work. Thugs, bullies, people who, if they didn’t become policemen, would be criminals flock to law enforcement careers like flies to fecal matter, and once there, they’re almost impossible to dislodge, because the collective fantasy embraced within the law enforcement clique—a reactionary "we’re at war" seige mentality, totally removed from the reality of the job and divorced from any thought for its proper place in a society—means they circle the wagons when faced with any effort to address problems.
It’s true many of our policemen become rough and insensitive and they get caught up in the system. It seems that they all have watched to many T.V. shows and movies about crime. Nowadays it’s unusual for policemen to have a casual talk with a citizen. They have isolated themselves from the average citizen. There’s one man running that’s never been in police work.It might be best to step outside the system this time around.
