Three 18-year-olds were arrested early Saturday morning, July 8, after breaking into a truck in Flintstone.

According to Walker County Sheriff’s reports:

William Preston Morris of Sparrow Lane in Ringgold, Albert Lee Dawson and Austin Ryan Taylor of Merrywood Lane in Rossville face one felony count of entering an auto.

The arrests are as a result of an alert neighbor who noticed two teenagers at a nearby residence on Nancy Drive in Flintstone on July 7. Both were breaking into a Ford F-150 truck at the residence.

The witness called 911 at 2:34 a.m., giving descriptions of the two teens, one of whom was inside the vehicle.

Upon noticing the teens the neighbor yelled and approached them. They both fled on foot. The neighbor chased the teen who had been inside the truck.

After a short chase, both teens were picked up by a Chevy Tahoe that had been waiting nearby.

The neighbor’s descriptions of the vehicle, its tag number and clothing worn by the teens was given to two deputies in the area.

A traffic stop was made on the suspect’s vehicle at 2:43 a.m. and all were taken into custody.

The neighbor was able to identify Morris, Taylor and Dawson as being the two involved in the theft and as the driver of the Tahoe, respectively.

The owner of the Ford did not find anything to be stolen from his vehicle.

Two juveniles, ages 15 and 16, also allegedly involved in the crime face juvenile complaints in the case.
