James L. Shannon, 76, Rossville

James “Jim” L. Shannon of Rossville died Wednesday, August 8, 2012. He was 76.

He has been a resident of Rossville since 1973, and was of the Christian faith. He served his country in the U. S. Air Force for 17 years and was in the printing business for 36 years before retiring.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Filmore and Freda Shannon.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Shelvy Shannon; son, Phil (Amanda) Shannon; niece, Becky and nephew, Allan.

Funeral services: Tuesday, August 14, at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Minister Shane Robinson officiating. Burial: Chattanooga National Cemetery. Visitation: Monday, August 13, after 3 p.m. and prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

William Lawrence Nolen Jr., 65, Chattanooga

William “Bill” Lawrence Nolen, Jr. of Chattanooga, Tenn., died Saturday, July 14, 2012. He was 65.

A lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, Bill graduated from Rossville High School and served four years in the U.S. Navy. He was a self-employed painter and was of the Methodist faith. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Lawrence Nolen Sr. and Gladys Samsel Nolen.

Survivors include several cousins.

Graveside services: Tuesday, August 14, at 10:30 a.m. at the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Disabled Veterans Association.

Martha Jo Manning, 68, Rossville

Martha Jo Manning of Rossville died Thursday, August 9, 2012, in a local hospital. She was 68.

A native of Chattanooga, Ms. Manning was a resident of Atlanta for over 20 years and was employed as a secretary at Lockheed with 23 years of service. She moved back to the Rossville area 10 years ago and was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Sarah Manning and sister, Barbara Watkins.

Survivors include her niece, Donna (Steve) Storey, of Evensville, Tenn.; nephew, Steve (Joey) Watkins, of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; several great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and cousins also survive.

Funeral services: Monday, August 13, at 1 p.m. at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1505 North Moore Road, Chattanooga, with Dr. Gary Carver, Bruce Clark, and Minister Don Martin officiating. She will lie-in-state Monday from noon until the service hour at the church. Burial: Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation: Sunday, August 12, from 1-8 p.m. at funeral home.

Kelly Gene Underdown, 63, Chattanooga

Kelly "Dawg" Gene Underdown of Chattanooga, Tenn., died Friday, August 10, 2012. He was 63.

A lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area, he was a retired employee of EPB where he worked for 34 years, a retired veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he served for 25 years, a member of the Tompkins Masonic Lodge #466 F&AM and was of the Baptist faith.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jack Edward and Katherine Evelyn Wallace Underdown.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Wilson of East Ridge, Tenn.; two sons, Corey Underdown and Kane (Tiffany) Underdown of Ringgold; their mother, Janice Underdown of Ringgold; daughter, Zoey Wilson of Chattanooga, Tenn.; grandchildren, Colt Underdown, Brodie Underdown, Kaimen Underdown and Trent Oliver.

Cecil Eugene Tankersley, 84, Rossville

Cecil Eugene Tankersley of Rossville died Friday, August 10, 2012. He was 84.

He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga and north Georgia are and was a member and Deacon at Union Avenue Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War where he received two purple hearts for his service and retired from Container Corporation as a shipping clerk after more than 42 years of service. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all those he touched throughout his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Dewey Tankersley.

Survivors include his loving wife of more than 58 years, Odell Tankersley of Rossville; four daughters, Vickie Rhodes of Rock Spring, Sherry Seay and Brenda Childress, both of Rossville and Donna Tatum of Ringgold; 10 grandchildren, Cecilia, Wendy, Brandy, Kisha, Jason, Crystal, Sarah, Amber, Kenneth and Matthew and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services: Tuesday, August 14, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Bro. DeWayne Madaris officiating. Burial: Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park. Visitation: Sunday, August 12, after 5 p.m., all day Monday and prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Ronald Pittman, 58, Chattanooga

Ronald “Ron” Pittman of Chattanooga died Friday, August 10, 2012. He was 58.

He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and was of the Baptist faith. He was self-employed for more than 30 years as an airbrush artist and enjoyed racing cars.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rayford and Ella Pittman; sister, Sharon; and two loving dogs, Shelby and Lacey.

Survivors include his brother, Dal; two sisters, Alice and Linda; special friend, Janice Crumbley and numerous other friends.

Graveside services: Wednesday, August 15, at 2:30 p.m. in the Lakewood South Memory Gardens with Rev. Harold Taylor officiating. Visitation: Wednesday, August 15, from 10 a.m. until leaving for the service.

Melvin Franklin Parrish, 66, Chickamauga

Melvin Franklin Parrish of Chickamauga died Saturday, August 11, 2012. He was 66.

He was born in Chickamauga to the late Melvin Thomas Parrish and Tressie Amy Shannon Parrish. He was a lifelong resident of the Chickamauga area and was a member of the Crawfish Masonic Lodge #300 F&AM. He was a truck driver for more than 41 years. He had driven for Vesicol Chemical for 20 years and for the past 15 years for Clean Harbor Trucking out of Tucker. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed tinkering on things while he was at home.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his precious daughter, Shannon Parrish; and a brother, Michael Parrish.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Dianne Taylor Parrish; daughter and son-in-law, Tammy E. and David Pearson; granddaughter, Erika Pearson all of Chickamauga; sisters and brothers-in-law, Edna and Lonnie Buser of Fort Oglethorpe, Marie and Darrell Shelby of Hollywood, Ala.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clifford Samuel Parrish, Lebron and Kathy Parrish all of Chickamauga; several nieces and nephews.

Sophia Marie Harmon, 85, Rossville

Sophia Marie Harmon of Rossville died Saturday, August 11, 2012, at her residence. She was 85.

She was a native of Hastings, New York, but had lived most of her life in the Rossville area and had worked at Crane Company for several years. She was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed being with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Eva Siwick; husband, Grant Lee Harmon, Sr.; son, Grant Lee Harmon, Jr.; several brothers and sisters.

Survivors include her children, Elaine Griffin of Chattanooga, Joyce Harper of Rossville, Jeff Harmon of Trion, and Todd Harmon of Chattanooga; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several sisters, nieces and nephews.

Granvil Eugene Headrick, 77, Summerville

Granvil Eugene Headrick of Summerville died Sunday, August 12, 2012, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was 77.

He was of the Baptist faith and a former deacon. He had been employed with Salem Carpets, and Mt. Vernon Mills in Trion. He was an avid fisherman, woodworker and loved the outdoors.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 23 years, Vivian Headrick; parents, William Headrick and Pluma Wrape; sister, Emily Jarniagan; brother, Ray Headrick.

Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Patsy Mosley Headrick; daughters, Kathy (Mark) Jackson, of Rossville, Paula (Glenn) Shrader, of Chattanooga; sons, Dan Mosley, of Tavares, Fla., Mike Mosley, of Rome, and Chuck Mosley, of Summerville; brothers and sisters, Henry Headrick, of Ft. Payne, Ala., James Headrick, of Chattanooga Valley, and Robert Headrick, of Chattanooga; sisters, Kathryn Bach of Gadsden, Ala., Mae Walker, of Chattanooga, Mary Pence, of Rossville; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Barbara Matic, 79, Ringgold

Barbara Matic of Ringgold died Sunday August 12, 2012, in a local healthcare facility. She was 79.

She was born in Oostanala, Georgia, on October 30, 1932, a daughter of the late Marlin Chester and Tennie Bell Baynes Davis. She has lived in the north Georgia area for the past 17 years coming from Pell City, Ala. She was the first female corrections officer in the State of Georgia serving at Stone Mountain Correctional Institution.

Survivors include daughters, Jacki (Stan) Berrong of McDonough and Dawn (Griff ) Shirley of Ringgold; sons, Scott Burchfield of Goodletsville, Tenn., Craig Burchfield of Ringgold, Matt (Sharon) Burchfield of Roswell, Marko Matic of Birmingham, Ala., and Viktor Matic of Ringgold; sister, Marlene Bennett of Ringgold, 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Bobby Lewis Ellison, 67, Rock Spring

Mr. Bobby Lewis Ellison of Rock Spring died Sunday, August 12, 2012. He was 67.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ann Bartlett Ellison; brothers, Wilburn Ellison, and Benny Ellison; parents, Harlee and Florence Akins Ellison.

Survivors include daughter, Tammy Ellison Foster and husband E.V., of Chickamauga; son, Clyde Lewis Ellison, of Rock Spring; sister, Crystal Ballinger, of LaFayette; brother, Ray Ellison, of Florida; grandchildren, Jessa Hughes Shelby, Justin Hughes, Destiny Ellison, Mason Ellison, and Harlee Ellison; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Rev. Robert Lewis Bledsoe, 90, LaFayette

Rev. Robert Lewis Bledsoe, departed this life to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, August 11, 2012. He was 90.

He was born May 20, 1922, in LaFayette. He was married to the late Sarah Winona (Winnie) Shipp Bledsoe on April 20, 1945. He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University of Nashville, Tenn. He enjoyed 48 years of serving his Lord through Ministry with the Nazarene Church. After Mr. Bledsoe’s retirement from the Nazarene Church, Mr. and Mrs. Bledsoe owned and operated the Lew-Winn Hosiery Mill in LaFayette for several years.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Albert and Jennie Mae Dewberry Bledsoe; grandson, Rickey Floyd; three sisters, Francis Stanfield, Ruth Dill, and Trene Bledsoe.

Survivors include his son, Robert J. (Jerry) Bledsoe, and wife Carolyn; daughter, Sarah R. (Becky) Floyd, and husband Rick; grandchildren, Kellie Bledsoe Malin, and husband Doug, Stacy Bledsoe and wife Michele, Stephanie Kay Davis, and husband Eddie, Tricia Kay Booth and husband Anthony, and Christina Floyd; great-grandchildren, Masilin Bledsoe, Kristen and DeLaney Malin, Devon and Dory Davis, Landon Booth and Wyatt Booth, Daisha Goff, Katy and Nathaniel Floyd; and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Levis Darlene McGill of Rossville, died on Tuesday, August 7, 2012. She was 51.

She was preceded in death by her father, Eugene McGill and a brother, David Leon McGill. Darlene was an avid Tennessee Vols fan.

Survivors include her mother, Mildred McGill Morgan, of Rossville; brother, Stephen Eugene McGill and wife, Marie of Rossville; sister, Margaret Ann Goode and husband, Jimmy of Harrison, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.

Philip Earl Swope, 81, Chickamauga

Philip Earl Swope of Chickamauga died Thursday August 9, 2012, at his residence. He was 81.

A native of Twin Falls, Idaho, he has lived in the Chickamauga area for the past 59 years and was formerly of Long Island, Ala. He was a former employee of A.S. Haight Company where he worked for 13 years, was a veteran of the National Guard and a member of Old Bethel Baptist Church. He was a kind person and was liked by everyone. He liked singing very much and he loved to sing. He had a very good voice.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Janie Dickerson Swope.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Frances White Swope of Chickamauga; brother-in-law, John White of Deland, Fla.; sister-in-law, Earline Parson of Mobile, Ala.; nephew, Robert White of Asheville, Ala.

Funeral services: Monday, August 13, at 10 a.m., in the funeral home chapel with Revs. Charles McElhaney and Bill Casteel officiating. Burial: LaFayette Memory Gardens. Visitation: Sunday from 2-9 p.m., and Monday until funeral time at the funeral home. Doris Marie Smith of Rossville died on Thursday, August 9, 2012. She was 61.

Ross Everette Smith, 60, Fort Oglethorpe

Ross Everette Smith of Fort Oglethorpe died Tuesday, August 7, 2012. He was 60.

He had lived in the north Georgia area for the last 20 years and was of the Protestant faith. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and just loved life.

He was preceded in death by his father, Everette Smith; and grandparents, Oscar and Lillian Helton.

Survivors include his mother, Peggy Helton Ireton of Chickamauga; daughter, Leslie Elaine Smith of Seattle, Wash.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Michael and Jackie Smith of Garden Grove, Calif., and Scott and Becky Ireton of Hunnington Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Beverly Ross of Kingman, Ariz., and Susan Ireton of Chickamauga; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private and there will be no visitation at the funeral home.

Danny Lynn Cummings, 63, Lookout Valley

Danny Lynn Cummings of Lookout Valley died Tuesday, August 7, 2012. He was 63.

He was a lifelong resident of the Chattanooga area and was of the Baptist faith. He was previously employed with Tri-State Bowling for more than 12 years as a technician and truly enjoyed his work. He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War and served with the military police. He was a loving son and brother who will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Cummings, and his mother, Grace White.

Survivors include his step-father, Harold White of Rossville; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Ken Killingsworths, David and Sharon Cummings, all of Lookout Valley, Tenn., Bob and Sue Cummings of Ashville, N.C. and Billy and Pam Killingsworth of Crawfordville, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Johnny Huckabee of Lookout Valley, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews.

Victoria Ann White, 46, LaFayette

Victoria Ann “Vickie” White of LaFayette, lost her battle with breast cancer, Friday, July 27, 2012. But in doing so won her victory in Heaven. She was 46.

She was a deeply loved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, teacher and friend. She attended Northwest Georgia High School, Covenant College, and received her Masters of Education from University of Tennessee Chattanooga. She taught health and physical education to the children of Walker County for 24 years. She taught at both Fairyland School and North LaFayette Elementary School. She loved every minute of teaching. Vickie went many extra miles for her students.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Robert and Irene Holt and Harlod and Sue Martin, and niece Ashleigh Lusk-Sue.

Survivors include her beloved husband of 25 years, William G. (Billy) White; her precious sons, William G. (Tripp) and Rhett Jameson of LaFayette; mother, Debbie(John) Pataky of Lookout Mountain; father, Dee Martin of Rossville; sister, Melissa Martin of Lookout Mountain; father and mother-in-law, William G. (Bill) and Vivian White of LaFayette; several sisters and brothers-in-law; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and a host of cousins all who loved Vickie deeply. She taught her students as well as her family many life lessons of faith, grace, dignity and unconditional love. She loved her family and many friends with a fierce unmeasurable passion for life. She will be greatly missed. One of Vickie's favorite phrases was “you are smart, you are kind, and you are important!” a phrase she felt for all her students.

Funeral service: Sunday, July 29, at 2 p.m., at the First Baptist Church of LaFayette with Jay Neal officiating. Burial: Payne's Chapel Cemetery, Lookout Mountain. Visitation: Saturday, July 28, from 5-9 p.m. and prior to leaving for the church on Sunday.

Larry Eugene Gothard, 70, Rock Spring

Larry Eugene Gothard of Rock Spring died Thursday, August 2, 2012. He was 70.

He was born to the late Bonnie R. and Edith Gothard on March 27, 1942, in Soddy Daisy, Tenn. He retired from Pro Fab where he worked as a fabricator/welder for nearly 52 years and he was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Sue Whaley, Bonnie Kate O’Neal, Jo Gannaway and Bobbie Peters; brother, Tommy L. Gothard.

Survivors include his loving wife, Jane Howard Gothard of Rock Spring; sister, Verda Hardy of Rock Spring; brother, Lewis (Charlotte) Gothard of Ringgold; three sisters-in-law, Jean Hardin of Rock Spring, Judy Barrett of Monroe, Dorothy Lampkin of Monroe; brother-in-law, Albert Howard of Cedartown; twenty nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.

Bonnie “Joe” Young, 78, Rock Spring

Bonnie “Joe” Young of Rock Spring died on August 6, 2012 at his home. He was 78.

He was in the automobile industry and he owned and operated Joe’s Paint and Body Shop for 35 years.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Tossie Young; daughters, Carolyn (Larry) Mooney and Brenda Langston of Ringgold; four grandchildren, Brandy Leonard, Matthew Mooney, Courtney and Caleb Langston, all of Ringgold; and four great-grandchildren.

Graveside services: Wednesday, August 8, at 11 a.m. at Crestlawn Cemetery with Pastor Terry Colbert officiating. Visitation: Tuesday, August 7, from 5-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

F. L. Ashworth of LaFayette died Monday, August 6, 2012. He was 80.

He was a lifelong resident of the north Georgia area and was previously employed with Beau Carpet for more than five years. He was a veteran of the United States Army and enjoyed fishing. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Azilee Ashworth; three sisters, Mary Dean, Pauline Lowe and Geneva Stroud; and four brothers, Walter, Elwyn, Wayne and Edward Ashworth.

Survivors include his loving wife of more than 51 years, Della Ashworth of LaFayette; daughters and son-in-law, Tina Barnes of Cohutta, and Sherry and (Darrell) Jones of Dalton; son, Festus “Buck” Ashworth of LaFayette; five grandchildren, Laura Barnes, Joni Dockery, Angel King, Jessica Ashworth and Kristy King; 13 great-grandchildren; special niece, Sheila Skidmore and many other nieces and nephews.

Betty Jean Frazier, 65, Rossville

Betty Jean Frazier of Rossville died Monday, August 6, 2012. She was 65.

She was a lifelong resident of the north Georgia area and attended the Cowboy Church in LaFayette. She was previously employed as a CNA with Parkside Nursing Home for more than 15 years and enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Demple Snyder; two brothers, Charles and Milford Snyder; and niece, Katie Bryant.

Survivors include her husband, Hershel Frazier of Rossville; five children and spouses, Claude and (Vicky) Dodson of East Ridge, Tenn., Phillip and (Roxanne) Dodson of Chattanooga, Tenn., Bobby Frazier of Rossville, Randy and (Laura) Frazier of Fort Oglethorpe, and Deborah and (Eugene) Hart of Rossville; three sisters, Mahayley Williams, Martha Tharpe and Pearlie Ingram all of LaFayette; six grandchildren, Amy Dodson; several great-grandchildren, Makayla Dodson and Hayden Frazier; and several nieces and nephews.

Darlene Ann Gracy, Norfolk

Darlene Ann Gracy of Norfolk, died July 29, 2012, after an extended illness.

She was born in California but was a near lifelong resident of Hampton Roads. She lived her life with a strong faith in God and love of family. She will always be remembered for her beautiful welcoming smile for everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thed and Frances (Machado) Gracy; grandparents, Edgar and Henrietta Gracy (Ringgold), and Manual and Marianna Machado, (Rodeo, Calif.). She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include a brother, Ronald Gracy; a brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Coleen Gracy; a niece, Nichole Gracy Yoch; a nephew, Brock Gracy. two grand-nephews and a grand-niece; an uncle, Ronald (Joyce) Gracy; an aunt, Sara (Don) Hutelin; and numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins, all of whom she loved and remembered often.

William J. Blevins, 84, Cloudland

William J. Blevins of Cloudland died August 7, 2012. He was 84.

He was born in Dade County to the late Noah and Minnie Mae Blevins. He served in the U.S. Marines Corps where he received a Purple Heart during the Korean War. He was a member and deacon at Lookout Mountain Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was also preceded in death by his daughters, Denise Blevins, Carolyn Metcalf; and siblings, Dorothy Broome, Glen Blevins, and Eddie Blevins.

Survivors include his loving wife, Georgia Blevins of Cloudland; children, Patricia Morgan of Fort Oglethorpe, Grace (Phil) Hodge of East Ridge, Alice McArthur of Fort Oglethorpe, William (Robin) Blevins of Cloudland, David (Laura) Blevins, Michael (Dianne) Bailey, both of Ringgold; siblings, Janie Archer, Annie Holbrooks both of Ringgold, Faye Sayer of Rossville, Roy Blevins of Ala., David Blevins of Ringgold, Wyatt Blevins of Rossville, James Blevins of Ringgold; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Sherry Lynn Williams of Rossville died Saturday, August 4, 2012. She was 54.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Sharon Zurakowski; brother, Terry Robinson; father and mother-in-law, Cecil and Sara Williams. She was a member of Chickamauga Church of Christ.

Survivors include her husband of 24 years, Mark Williams; father, Bud Robinson; children, Shane (Jennifer) Robinson, Amanda (Phil) Shannon, Tyler Williams, Travis (Rebecca) Williams; grandchildren, Noah, Sophie, Mia; step-brothers, Mike, Chuck, Dan, Pee-Wee; step-sister, Charlene; and several nieces.

Leonard Wesley Kaylor, 63, Ringgold

Leonard Wesley Kaylor of Ringgold died Saturday, August 4, 2012, in a local hospital. He was 63.

He was longtime resident of north Georgia and a member of Burning Bush Baptist Church. He was previously employed with Combustion Engineering, TVA and Walter A. Woods. He was a devoted husband for 44 years and loving father and was very active in his community and church. He loved camping in the Smokies, gospel music, gardening, building scale models with his son, and napping with his little Yorkie, Bella.

He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Leonard Kaylor and mother, Mary Rhea Kaylor and his step-father, Emory Guffey.

Survivors include his wife, Debbie Kaylor; son, Jason Wesley (Beth) Kaylor, of Ringgold; brothers, Ronnie (Brenda) Kaylor, of Canton, Wayne Kaylor, of Ringgold; sister, June (Sam) Henry, of Soddy-Daisy; several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents Arthur Callahan, Jr., and Marilyn Yvonne Laws; and brother Danny Callahan.

Survivors include his daughter, Lacy Arvizu of LaFayette; son, Jeremy Callahan of LaFayette; sisters, Theresa Barfield of LaFayette, Tyron Smith of Trenton; grandchildren, Brooklyn Callahan, Alexia Arvizu, Cody Lively; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Brenda Joyce Gallahan Jackson of LaFayette died Sunday, July 29, 2012. She was 60.

Survivors include her husband, Billy Jackson; daughter, Tracy Finch; sons, Grant and wife, Jennifer Dawn Jackson, and Richard Finch; sisters, Sharron Mcamis, Dale Dean, and Debbie Elder; grandchildren, Hunter Jackson, McKenzie Jackson, and Isaac Jackson; several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mrs. Kathleen Stanley Mitchell of Rock Spring died Tuesday, July 31, 2012. She was 81.

She was preceded in death by her father, Walter Stanley.

Survivors include her loving husband, Robert Mitchell; mother, Maudine Barnes Stanley; daughter, Pattie Davenport, of LaFayette; son, Bobby and wife, Rhonda Mitchell, of Chickamauga; grandchildren, Tiffany and husband, D.K. She was born in New Castle, Pa., but had lived in the north Georgia area for the last 16 years. She was of the Catholic faith and was previously employed with New Castle Packing for more than 20 years before retiring in 1989. She enjoyed gardening, plants and camping; she was a devoted mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all that knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Pete Rebmann; and sister, Sandy Rebmann.

Survivors include her husband, Carmen L. Deli of Fort Oglethorpe; daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Rodney Hood of Chattanooga, Tenn.; sons, Carmen L. Deli, II of Tennessee and Philip Deli of New Castle, Pa.; two brothers, Matthew Rebmann of New Castle, Pa. and William Rebmann of Rossville; sister, Linda Smith of Tennessee; five grandchildren, Allissa, Madison, Kaylee and Taylor Deli and Casey Hood and several nieces and nephews.

Earline L. Swope of Ringgold died Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at a local healthcare facility. She was 80.

She was a member of the Ooltewah Church of God and had retired as a waitress having worked in several restaurants in the Chattanooga area.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur L. Swope; son, Raymond “Dustin” Swope; brothers, David Landers and Charles Green and sister, Mary Virginia Chambers.

Survivors include two granddaughters, LaRay Swope and Kayla Swope; two great-grandchildren, Adam and Isayana Swope, all of Vancouver, Wash.; nieces and nephews, Terry L. Chambers, of Pensacola, Fla., L. Jeanette Wilson, of Ringgold, Ralph Chambers, of Hixson, Tenn., Teresa Hartman, of Soddy Daisy, Tenn., Randy Chambers, of Dalton, Chris Chambers, of Hixson, Tenn., and a host of great, and great-great nieces and nephews.
