This week is Thanksgiving. I know we all have so much to be thankful for. When you set down with your family and friends for your Thanksgiving meal think of the ones that may not have family or friends and maybe not a meal. Then thank the Lord for your blessings.

We will be having our midweek service on Tuesday night this week. Our Nursing Home Service will be on Tuesday morning.

Next Sunday night,November 25th, we will not have service at Pleasant Valley as Justin Holcomb will be Ordained at a church in Marietta, Georgia and he wants his uncle, Bro. David to have a part in that service. Several from the church will be going down to be in the service with them. We are all so proud of Justin and wish him the very best.

We had a fellowship after church on Sunday night to celebrate Bro. David's birthday.There was lots of all kind of good food and especially some very good desserts.

We send condolences to the Davis Family in the death of their loved one Richard Davis. Also to the Cofer Family in the death of Carl Cofer.I had a cousin to pass away on Saturday. Herman Martin of Dalton.Please remember these families in your prayers.

What a beautiful weekend we had. We were glad to see several visitors on Sunday and will look for them next Sunday.

The Taylors and Eslingers had a big birthday celebration Sunday afternoon as it was little Vivvi Taylor’s birthday and her uncle, Dale Eslinger’s birthday. Dale was so excited when Vivvi was born on his birthday last year. Vivvi is one year old and it was Dale’s 51st birthday. Vivvi has 5 sisters and 2 aunts and 2 uncles in addition to 3 grandparents and parents to spoil her. Do you think she will be spoiled?

Our sympathy is extended to the family of Carolyn Patterson Griffin who passed away last week. Her husband, Ben, passed away in October. This is a very sad time for their family.

Bill Davidson’s brother, James, is critically ill at the time of this writing. Other cancer patients who need prayer are Mary Eslinger, Kathleen Lewis Williams, Kay Rymer Jack Ensley, Rev. Wayne Hamrick, Sandra Higgins and Haley Stone. Reba Payne is recuperating from major abdominal surgery and we wish her a speedy recovery. Others on our prayer list are Phyllis Johnson’s sister, Nancy; Jack Pennick (kidneys), Jerry Watkins, Barbara Ensley (foot problem), Susie and Archie McNish and others. Many are suffering with colds and sinus infections and hoarseness.

Marie Massengill, Ernie and Susan Pierce, Linda Forester and Mel and Charlotte McGuffey attended the annual holiday dinner and entertainment at Tunnel Hill First Baptist Church on Saturday night. Jimmy Hutto is pastor there. It was good to see Jimmy and Maudie and several other friends. I was also glad to see Rev Dewey Boyd and his wife, Jane.

Our sympathy is also extended to the Cofer family in the death of Carl Cofer of Ringgold. He has many friends and relatives in this area.

Ernie and Susan Pierce and Darryl and Cindy Massengill recently vacationed in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Happy 18th birthday to Madeline Ensley (daughter of Steve and Donna Ensley) on November 29. Mel and I will celebrate 20 years of marriage on November 28. I am thankful for a good man and husband.

Thanks to all who helped with taking down the flags on Monday. The flags were especially beautiful this month as they were flying in the breeze in the beautiful sunshine.

As you are gathering with family and friends for your Thanksgiving meal and festivities, remember those who are less fortunate and reach out to help someone. Christ Chapel has been flooded with requests for help last week and served 42 families in 4 hours on Friday and similar numbers on other days. There are many needy people in this area. Thanks to all the schools, churches and other organizations who have held food drives and helped stock the shelves at Christ Chapel so all these people can be helped. If you have a few hours a week you could donate, stop by and they will help you find a place to serve.

I would like to wish a happy Thanksgiving to all my readers and especially my friends and relatives from out of town who read this column. I won’t call any names because I would probably unintentionally omit someone.
