Broome, Clements out of gates quickly for Shorter

Two former LaFayette softball players are off to fast starts in their senior seasons with Shorter University.

Centerfielder Charlsie Broome currently leads the Southern States Athletic Conference with 21 hits, 16 runs scored and seven stolen bases. She is 10th in the conference in hitting with a .525 average, and sixth in slugging percentage at .875. She also has three doubles, one triple and three homeruns in the team's first 11 games.

Second baseman Emily Clements is hitting a solid .324 for the Lady Hawks with three doubles and two homeruns, and her 11 RBIs has her tied for third in the SSAC rankings.

Shorter is 9-2 overall going into today's doubleheader at Reinhardt.
