The former House speaker concedes he badly needs a win in Georgia's Republican primary next week. On the final stretch of a three-day tour of his former home state, Gingrich planned back-to-back rallies Friday in Savannah, Brunswick, Valdosta and Columbus.
That makes Gingrich the only GOP contender so far to venture far outside metro Atlanta and its Republican-leaning suburbs. Rivals Rick Santorum and Mitt Romney have both made campaign stops there.
It's no surprise Gingrich is logging the most mileage here. He represented Georgia in Congress for 20 years and hasn't won a GOP primary since his lone victory in South Carolina on Jan. 21.

Newt's a joke. There's only one candidate that wants to cut real spending, make our money stronger, and defend our country first. He's also polling higher than Obama at this point--nobody hears about him on the news though. Ron Paul 2012!
