According to the Fort Oglethorpe Police Department:
Jessica Stella Slayton, 24, of Craig Road in East Ridge Tenn., was arrested on Sunday, Feb. 26, on charges of DUI, two counts of possession of a Schedule II drug, possession of a Schedule IV drug, drugs not in original container, no headlights, and two counts of endangering the life of a child.
Shortly after 11 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 26, Slayton was pulled over in her 2003 Nissan Altima after she was ob-served traveling without a working headlight.
“While speaking with her, I could smell a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle,” officer Michael Furgerson wrote in the report. “I then spoke with the male passenger of the vehicle, who stated that he was a friend of Slayton’s brother, and that he was accompanying her to meet her ex.”
During questioning, Slayton was continuously uncooperative, which prompted officers to place her into tempo-rary custody while a search of the vehicle was conducted, reports show.
Numerous pills that included generic forms of Xanax, Oxycodone, and Adderall were found in Slayton’s purse during the search.
Slayton was placed under arrest after failing multiple field sobriety tests and was transported to Catoosa County jail without incident.
“The two young children were turned over to sober adults,” Furgerson said.
